The "Chatbot Era" has officially transitioned into the "Agent Era." Platforms like OpenClaw, an

open-source framework for autonomous assistants, have exploded in popularity, allowing users

to deploy digital teammates that can browse the web, manage emails, and even execute code.

But for the Hacklido community, this convenience comes with a massive warning: Agentic AI is

rewriting the rules of cybercrime, turning "helpful assistants" into autonomous insider threats.

1. The Rise of "Indirect" Prompt Injection

The most dangerous vulnerability facing agents in 2026 isn't a direct attack on the user; it's

Indirect Prompt Injection.

● The Attack: An attacker places "invisible" instructions on a webpage—using white text

on a white background or hidden HTML metadata.

● The Pivot: When your autonomous agent visits that page to summarize it, it "reads"

those hidden commands.

● The Payload: The agent might suddenly stop its task and instead begin searching your

connected Google Drive for bank statements or exfiltrating your browser cookies to an

attacker's server.

"It's the XSS of the AI era," says one security researcher. "We aren't breaking into

the model; we're just giving it a new boss while the user isn't looking."

2. The OpenClaw Crisis (CVE-2026-25253)

The framework OpenClaw has become a primary target. Earlier this year, researchers identified

CVE-2026-25253, a critical "one-click" Remote Code Execution (RCE) flaw.

● The Hook: An attacker sends a link. If the user clicks it while their OpenClaw Control UI

is open in another tab, the vulnerability allows the attacker to steal the user's

authentication token.

● The "God Mode" Escape: With that token, the attacker can remotely turn off the agent's

"confirmation prompts" and execute arbitrary shell commands on the victim's host

machine, bypassing container sandboxes entirely.

3. "Prompt Worms" and Multi-Agent Infections

As agents begin to talk to each other using networks like Moltbook to share skills, we are

seeing the birth of Prompt Worms.

● Self-Replication: A malicious "skill" shared by one agent can contain instructions to

infect any other agent that interacts with it.

● The Chain Reaction: These worms can propagate across entire enterprise networks at

machine speed, escalating privileges and altering system-wide behaviors before a

human defender even receives an alert.

Hacklido Intelligence: Hardening Your Agents

If you are deploying autonomous agents today, you are effectively hiring a teammate who is

highly susceptible to "hypnotism."

Strategic Defenses:

1. The "Lethal Trifecta" Rule: If your agent has (1) Access to private data, (2) Exposure to

untrusted web content, and (3) The ability to communicate externally (email/API), you

have a "ticking bomb." Remove at least one of these capabilities.

2. Human-in-the-Loop (HITL): Never allow an agent to perform "irreversible" actions—like

sending an email, making a payment, or deleting a file—without a manual

click-to-confirm from you.

3. Contextual Segregation: Use "Monitor" models. Deploy a second, highly-constrained

LLM whose only job is to look at the agent's plan and ask: "Does this action match the

user's original intent, or has the agent been hijacked?"

Era," the most successful hackers won't need to write a single line of code; they’ll just need to

be better "managers" than you are.
