A cybersecurity source recently posted on X, alleging that Crunchyroll may have been hacked. According to the report, Crunchyroll works with Telus, an outsourcing partner that handles certain support and service operations. The claim suggests that an employee at Telus executed malware on their system, which allegedly allowed a threat actor to gain access to Crunchyroll’s environment.
The source further stated that the attacker gained access to Crunchyroll’s ticketing system, where customer support issues and subscriber-related data are stored. According to the same source, the threat actor claimed that the breach occurred on March 12, 2026. The report also alleges that Crunchyroll did not detect the intrusion for nearly 24 hours. After that period, the attacker’s access was reportedly blocked.
The hacker also allegedly claimed that they attempted to contact Crunchyroll, but received no response, and that the company has not publicly addressed the matter.
